    JOB OPENING

    HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT - #1203

    (Volunteer Services Division)

    Responsibilities: assist with the recruitment of volunteers; prepare and place job ads and postings; screen, interview, and track candidates through the recruitment process; conduct reference and background checks; process and prepare volunteer paperwork; answer questions and resolve problems related to volunteers, and District policies, procedures, and programs; respond to emails, faxes, and requests for confidential information; schedule meetings; design, format, edit and layout volunteer newsletter; research, design, and edit communication materials and publications; update website; assist with planning, coordinating, and participating in recognition events; group work days that include educational/recreational components, job fairs, and open houses; utilize word processing, database, spreadsheet, and publication software programs to create, maintain, and modify a variety of projects; prepare information and compile materials for meetings; compose, type, and distribute correspondence; perform data entry; prepare written reports; create and maintain filing system; operate a variety of office equipment; assist in research and data collection on special projects related to volunteer services programs of a complex and/or sensitive nature requiring confidentiality; evaluate, recommend, and implement process improvements for office policies, procedures, and programs; order office supplies and maintain inventory; assist in the establishment of computerized management information reports; interpret complex or technical information; create and maintain recordkeeping reports and documents; prepare purchase requisitions and record expenses involved with monitoring budget; perform other duties as assigned.

    Requires: coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or related field and four (4) years experience in an administrative or secretarial role, preferably in a Human Resources environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience; will be required to pass a typing skill test with a net speed of 50 w.p.m.; possession of a valid driver’s license.

    Preferred candidate: will have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite products; experience in Volgistics (online volunteer management software); experience as a volunteer and in customer service; and possess organizational/detail-oriented skills. This position requires approximately 10% offsite (field time) for volunteer groups and special events.

    HIRING SALARY: $31,460 - $39,750

    Renewing your DAVA membership is easy!  Just login to this site using your username and password, then in the upper right corner, click on "view profile".  From there, you will just need to click the button that says "renew until 2012".  When you verify your information, you will be sent an invoice to your email with payment instructions. If you are part of a bundle membership, then only one payment needs to be sent. As soon as we receive payment, we will note that in the website and you will stop receiving pesky automated reminders!

    Special Needs Coordinator Position
    Good Shepherd Church in Naperville is seeking a part-time Special Needs Coordinator to welcome children and adults with special needs and their families into the church community. This is a brand new position so the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the role.     The Illinois Conference on Volunteer Administration is a high-quality program designed for those who lead, supervise, or in any way manage volunteers. ICOVA offers enrichment through education and support to the lives of many Volunteer Administrators in the Midwest and beyond. Not only offering exceptional workshops and recognized keynote speakers, ICOVA also provides that much needed networking experience with peers and relaxing time among friends.
